Overview
If your vendor has enabled Buy Now, Pay Later (BNPL), you can pay your entire remaining invoice balance through an installment provider — Klarna, Affirm, or Afterpay. You choose the provider, get approved on their site, and your invoice is marked as paid in full. The provider splits the cost into manageable payments over time, while your vendor receives the full amount right away.
How to pay with Buy Now, Pay Later
Open your smart document and navigate to the Payment page.
Below the standard payment form, look for the Pay the full balance card. It shows the total remaining amount, the number of installments it covers, and the text split with Klarna, Affirm, or Afterpay.
Click the Pay the full balance card to expand it.
The expanded panel shows the PAY REMAINING BALANCE header with the total amount and number of items covered. Below the header, you will see the message Choose a provider below. You'll be redirected to complete a payment along with the amount and installment count. Select your preferred provider — Affirm, Afterpay, or Klarna.
Click Continue to be securely redirected to the provider's site. The button will briefly show Redirecting… before you leave the page.
On the provider's site, review the installment plan, complete any required verification, and approve the payment.
After approval, you are redirected back to the invoice page. A confirmation message appears: Payment successful — your invoice is fully paid.
What happens after a successful BNPL payment
All remaining payment items on your invoice are marked as paid.
Your vendor receives a confirmation that the full balance has been settled.
Autopay is automatically turned off for this invoice, since no further payments are needed.
The installment provider (Klarna, Affirm, or Afterpay) will collect payments from you directly over time according to the plan you selected.
If you leave the provider's site without completing payment
If you close the browser, press back, or otherwise leave the provider's checkout without completing the payment, you will see a Payment not completed card when you return to the invoice page. The card reads: Your payment session was not completed. Cancel and start over to try again with a different payment method.
To try again:
Click Cancel and start over on the "Payment not completed" card.
This restores your invoice items to their original state (upcoming, due, or overdue).
You can then attempt BNPL again with a different provider, or pay with a credit card or bank transfer instead.
If the provider declines your payment
BNPL providers evaluate each transaction individually. If you are declined:
Your invoice items will show a failed status. Nothing is charged.
You may see the message Payment was not completed. Please try again.
You can try a different BNPL provider if more than one is available.
You can pay with a credit card or bank transfer using the standard payment form above the BNPL card.
Declines are determined by the provider, not by your vendor or Wedy. Common reasons include insufficient credit history with the provider, the transaction amount falling outside the provider's limits, or the provider's own risk assessment for that specific transaction.
Important details
BNPL pays the full remaining balance: You cannot use BNPL for a single installment. It covers all unpaid items on the invoice in one transaction.
Autopay is turned off after BNPL: If your vendor adds new payment items to the invoice later, you will need to re-enable autopay with a credit card or bank account, or use BNPL again for the new balance.
Provider availability varies: The providers you see depend on your vendor's account and your remaining balance amount. Each provider has transaction limits — Afterpay supports balances up to approximately $4,000, Affirm up to $30,000, and Klarna limits vary based on your credit profile. If your balance exceeds a provider's limit, that provider will not appear as an option. You may see one, two, or all three of Klarna, Affirm, and Afterpay.
Installment terms vary by provider: Each provider offers different repayment plans. Affirm offers monthly plans, Afterpay splits into 4 payments, and Klarna offers multiple options including pay-in-4 and monthly financing. Review the terms on the provider's site before approving.
Frequently asked questions
Is Buy Now, Pay Later available on every invoice?
No. BNPL is only available if your vendor has enabled it for the specific smart document. If you do not see the Pay the full balance card below the payment form, BNPL is not enabled for that document.
Do I pay any extra fees for using BNPL?
Wedy does not charge you any additional fees for using BNPL. However, your BNPL provider may charge interest or late fees depending on the installment plan you select. Review the provider's terms carefully before approving.
Can I cancel a BNPL payment after it's approved?
Once the provider approves and processes the payment, your invoice is marked as paid. To request a refund, contact your vendor directly.
What if I see "Payment is being processed"?
This means your payment is settling with the provider. You will see the message: Payment is being processed. We'll update your invoice once it settles. No action is needed — your invoice will update automatically.
Can I use BNPL and also make a partial card payment?
BNPL covers the entire remaining balance. If you want to pay a single installment now, use the standard card or bank payment form above the BNPL card. You can use BNPL later for the remaining balance.
